If you have ever had a problem with fruit flies then you know annoying they can be. Sometimes when I buy fruit or a new plant at the store, these guys hitch a ride back to my home. I've got an easy trap you can make that will drown the little suckers!
This morning I went out and planted some more bush beans and peas. Then collected seeds from the Morning Glory's and Marigolds, to re-plant in the spring. The tomatoes are coming along, they split a bit from all the rain we got a couple weeks ago. Those wounds have healed and they continue growing.
If you were to add any one herb to your diet, this should be it. Turmeric has incredible healing properties. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant-rich, and an immune enhancer. It would be easier to write about what Turmeric doesn't do. Read on to learn more.
One of my favorite things to do in the morning is to sit on the porch drink a hot cup of coffee and watch the birds come and go. Like most birds, hummingbirds are more active in the morning and evening hours. I have a few that buzz around my head while I'm in the garden. It's always amusing having them around. Did you know they must feed 5-8 times per hour? Here is an easy recipe to make your own hummingbird nectar without spending the outrageous prices for that already made red stuff.
I first started making my own laundry powder about four years ago. A lot of commercial soaps use irritating fragrances. My husband and I started becoming sensitive to those "artificial" scents. If you or someone in your family suffer from asthma, eczema, or any type of allergies, you might want to give this a try. Or if you just want to save some money, this stuff seriously cost pennies per load. This initial cost is around $13 for supplies, and will last you anywhere from 60-128 loads of laundry! Plus you'll have extra left in those boxes of Borax and Washing Soda to make a couple more batches. Much cheaper than the commercial stuff!
So this is my first post and I've had a hard time trying to decide what to talk about first. So many things I want to share. Those of you that know me might say I have a tea for everything or I eat healthy or I am a thrifty person. Well lately I've talked to many people who have questions regarding how I grow things, what herbal remedies to use, and how I make my laundry soap, etc. I had such a desire to help everyone that I thought this may be the best way. Everything new has to start somewhere, so let's jump right in and get this show on the road!
