If you have ever had a problem with fruit flies then you know annoying they can be. Sometimes when I buy fruit or a new plant at the store, these guys hitch a ride back to my home. I've got an easy trap you can make that will drown the little suckers!
You will need:
Mix about equal parts water and vinegar into dish. Add couple drops of dish soap. Mix.
Now I just use a dish, you could also use an empty glass bottle from beer or wine, something similar. Once they crawl down into a bottle they have a hard time flying back out. They fruit flies are drawn to the sour smell. Once their wings get soap on them, they cannot fly out and drown. Warning: The following photos may be disturbing to some viewers. I get sweet gratification out of it.

There you have it! I place the dish next to the sink by the trash can. Just refresh mixture everyday for however long you need to.
