One of my favorite things to do in the morning is to sit on the porch drink a hot cup of coffee and watch the birds come and go. Like most birds, hummingbirds are more active in the morning and evening hours. I have a few that buzz around my head while I'm in the garden. It's always amusing having them around. Did you know they must feed 5-8 times per hour? Here is an easy recipe to make your own hummingbird nectar without spending the outrageous prices for that already made red stuff.
You will need:
It's always a 1:4 ratio, meaning 1 Cup of sugar per 4 Cups of water. The great thing about this recipe is that you can always change the quantity easy enough.

Side note: Please do not add food coloring. It may be harmful to hummingbirds. Also do not use any brown sugars only the regular white granulated sugar.
- White granulated Sugar & water, that's it!

- Add 4 Cups of water to medium saucepan
- Add 1 Cup of sugar, stir
- Heat until all sugar is dissolved, no need to boil.
- Cover mixture and let it cool, off the hot burner preferably.
- Once cool add to feeders or put in jars and store in the fridge for up to a week.
