So today I tried coconut kefir for the first time ever. We purchased it from the little farm store we frequent. It's made by a small company called Ancient Awakenings in Woodstock, Ga. What is kefir you might ask? Read more to find out.
So what is Kefir? It's made from fermented milk, sort of like yogurt but not. It has a lot more of the beneficial probiotics in it. Probiotics promote overall good gut health and a happy gut means a happy immune system. That's only touching the iceberg though. Head on over to Ancient Awakenings website to find out more.
So the jar says it may expand when opening, yeah that was an understatement. I had about a half a cup of kefir oozing out. That's fine with me, just proves how fermented this stuff is.
As far as the taste goes, well kind of like plain yogurt. It has a sort of sour taste to it. Guess what cured that? Frozen rasberries! It made the perfect treat.
I think when I get time I'm going to try making my own, see how that turns out.
Have you tried Kefir? Made your own? I would love to know what you think.
